Data Instruments buys, refurbishes and sells computer hardware such as servers, laptops, disk storage arrays, network switches and routers and telephones. Some of the product lines we work with are Avaya, Cisco, Dell, EMC, Hewlett Packard, Lenovo, Oracle, Polycom, Sun Microsystems and ShoreTel
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Just out of college and just having moved to Atlanta, I was out knocking on doors of IT companies looking for work. One day, a receptionist told me to have a seat since I was early for my interview. Luckily for me, the person who really did have the interview never showed and I got the job selling dial-up modems and protocol converters. That was well over 30 years ago.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Data Instruments is a smaller company without the huge overhead costs, the multiple layers of personnel and the manual of procedures some of the other computer dealers have. This allows us to be very price competitive and extremely flexible to the customer's unique needs. Conversely, we do business with Fortune 100 companies so we are familiar with and adhere to all compliance procedures and regulations. Professional, ethical and honest.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently have offices in Marietta, Georgia and Singapore. We have warehouses in Marietta, Singapore and Cleveland, Ohio.
